Game Awards 2016: Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets new gameplay tease

The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild got some breathing room at The Game Awards, with a lengthy and casual gameplay look from Nintendo's Treehouse.

Eiji Aonuma appeared in a video message at tonight's Game Awards, to present a new look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

In a gameplay demo, Nintendo's Treehouse showed Link talking to a minstrel, looking for a dungeon, and doing some extensive combat. It was an uncharacteristically casual look at a game for the spectacle of The Game Awards, giving Zelda enough room to breathe and show how it may feel in a normal play session.

Ok I'll bite. I know the game is still six months out and in active development according to most people "in the know" but I hope to God that was the WiiU version being shown. I couldn't get past the jarring/unstable frame rates. Performance wise, that looked bad. Don't get me wrong, I love the art style and the series in general but I really wasn't "blown away" by the trailer like I thought I would be. I really hope Nintendo doesn't come out and say that was Switch footage or the meltdowns will be epic. :/

They were playing with the WiiU Gamepad so it was most likely the WiiU version.

Stealth in my Zelda? I like it.

Wind Waker had stealth. For like 10 minutes. I only remember it being used when you went into a fortress early in the game and had to hide under a barrel from patrols and spotlights.

Ahh, yes! I remember now. That game was amazing.

That's all good and stuff, but I'm not buying a new console just to play 2 or 3 Nintendo games and nothing else.

That's all good and stuff, but you don't really know shit about the lineup. Also, it's available for Wii U so you're in luck. I understand if you want to be skeptical of third party support again, but you, like me and everyone else, really have no idea wtf.

Then you're doing Nintendo consoles wrong.
