Ubisoft announced that its VR games will support cross-platform play between console and PC headsets, beginning as of today with Eagle Flight (via GameSpot).

The publisher's next two VR titles, Werewolves Within and Star Trek: Bridge Crew, will also be compatible across PC and console headsets.

"Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start and we're happy to announce that Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be playable cross-platform on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive," said David Votypka, Eagle Flight developer Red Storm's senior creative director.

"Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned," Votypka concluded.

Werewolves Within releases on Tuesday, December 6. Star Trek: Bridge Crew was delayed until 2017. Shacknews editor Joshua Hawkins went hands- and eyes-on with the game at E3, and came away impressed.

"During the demo, four of us were equipped with Oculus Rifts and Touch, and thrown into our respective roles," he wrote in his preview. "One of the developers worked as the ship’s Captain, I took on the Tactical Officer’s panel, and the other two people checking out the game at the same time took on Engineering and the Helm controls. Together we took over the bridge of the U.S.S Aegis, a brand new ship in the Starfleet’s lineup. Using the Rift’s built in headphones and mics, we were able to easily communicate with each other, and issue and receive commands from the Captain. This made the experience feel deeper, which was only further deepened when I realized that everyone in the group could see whatever hand movements I made."
