Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick promises 'great' story and gameplay elements as well as 'incredible emotional depth.'

Rockstar Games revealed Red Dead Redemption just a few weeks ago, but since its reveal, the company has been relatively quiet regarding the highly-anticipated game. Thankfully, new information regarding what players should expect from the Western third-person shooter.

Speaking at an MKM Partners event, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed how the company feels the timing is right for Red Dead Redemption 2 to succeed, similar to how the original Red Dead Redemption performed when it launched in 2010.

"The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn't work," Zelnick said when discussing the original Red Dead Redemption. "We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again--and that's not meant to be cute."

As for Red Dead Redemption 2, Zelnick promises it’ll offer “incredible emotional depth” with “great story elements and great gameplay elements.”

You lost the Benz and you lost my GTAV expansion :/ Rockstar why have you forsaken that beautiful map. It could've done so much more in single player :(

      GTAIV's map was well utilised.
      Sad times.

Typical Rockstar. Settling for just great when they could be aiming for greatest.

They will probably sell us that version once they have ported the game again to Scorpio/Pro/PC.

I'm hoping they won't take that jumping between characters thing from grand theft auto and put it in this one. Dunno why but I prefer to play with just one main character.

It would be nice if they didn't prioritize multiplayer content over single-player expansion content. Both GTA4 and even RDR got some pretty sizable and well done expansions.
