The PlayStation 4 platform has seen a handful of different releases this year, including games like Uncharted 4 and Street Fighter 5 to peripherals like the PlayStation VR headset. Below are some of our holiday gift recommendations for the PlayStation fan in your life.

PSVR - $399.99 (Amazon)

PlayStation’s entry in the Virtual Reality market, the PSVR is a new headset peripheral compatible with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 pro (mentioned below). It also requires a number of add-ons and can be tricky to set up in smaller rooms. Read our review to learn more, and check out the list of games available.

Move Controllers - $49.99 (Amazon)

A lot of PSVR games are motion-controlled, and the only way to facilitate this is through the use of Move Controllers. They’re $49.99 each, and it’s recommended to have at least two of them. To make things easier, however, there’s also a PSVR starter kit containing everything you’ll need available via Amazon.

PS4 Slim - $299.99 (Amazon)

The newly-redesigned PS4 Slim is a sleeker, thinner version of the original PlayStation 4. It’s a great option for people who don’t yet own the PlayStation 4 and would like a system that takes up a little less space for an affordable cost.

PlayStation 4 Pro - $399.99 (Amazon)

With a slight upgrade in horsepower, the PlayStation 4 Pro features a higher visual fidelity and is recommended for people who own a 4K TV or ultra HD setup. It is slightly more expensive than the PS4 and the PS4 Slim, and it has few big differences between the other two aside from its graphical capability. But, if you’re a stickler for cleaner visuals, then this is the box for you.

Force Recon 60P Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset - PS4 - $42.91 (Amazon)

Get the most out of a video game's sound design with a decent and afforadble headset for PS4. As an added bonus, it has a mic attached to the headset, allowing the player to communicate with others while playing games online.

Grip-It Analog Stick Covers - $4.99 (Amazon)

The grips on the Dualshock 4's analog sticks tend to wear out over time, so it's always good to have some extras on hand. Plus, there's a nice amount of customization opportunities here with different colors and styles to mix and match.

PlayStation Plus Membership - 1 month: $9.99, 3 months: $24.99, 12 months: $59.99 (Sony)

Available in 1, 3, and 12 month varieties for varying prices, a PlayStation Plus membership gives players access to online multiplayer for games like Call of Duty and Battelfield, as well as a new collection of free digital games switched out and made available monthly. In order to take advantage of the PS4's network features, you'll need a Plus membership to get online.

Oyen Digital 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive Upgrade Kit for Sony PlayStation 4 - $94.95 (Amazon)

Modern games are massive in size, requiring tens of gigabytes in order to download in full. Since the average PS4 has a 500GB hard drive, you'll run out of room relatively quickly when buying and storing away new games. Thankfully, this upgrade kit provides everything you'll need to put in a brand new one terabyte hard drive and increase the storage space within your console.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - $59.99 MSRP ($43.95 on Amazon)

The fourth entry in the Uncharted series, Uncharted 4 features gorgeous visuals and a fast-paced adventure story featuring Nathan Drake. Read our review to learn more.

Doom - $59.99 MSRP ($29.88 on Amazon)

Smooth controls, gorgeous environments, and a knockdown approach to combat make Doom a brilliant and fun shoter. Read our review to learn more.

Rise of the Tomb Raider ($49.49 on Amazon)

Available for the first time on PlayStation 4 this year, Rise of the Tomb Raider picks up after the events of the 2013 reboot as Lara tries to preserve the legacy of her father. Read our review to learn more.
