Update: Deep Silver has issued a statement regarding today's news of a new Metro game possibly releasing in 2017. In a statement submitted to Shacknews, Deep Silver says:

"As the exclusive rights holder to video games set in the Metro 2033 universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series. But just to manage our fans' expectations--releasing the next Metro game in 2017 is not one of them. When we have more news to share, we will."

Original Story:

4A Games has revealed the next title in its Metro series, Metro 2035, is scheduled to release sometime in 2017.

The reveal comes in the form of a timeline that highlights the releases of Metro across both literature and video games, which starts at 2007 with the original Metro 2033 novel, and ends at 2017 with a tease of “the next Metro video game.” The description of the upcoming game describes it as taking place after the events of the novels where “an era of great discoveries lies ahead.”

While we don't know much about the game, the synopsis for Metro 2035 should shed some light on what we can expect. The book's description follows:

"The final part of the trilogy takes us back to Artyom and his struggle to get the people back to the above world they once ruled. This is a standalone story that can be read independently from the previous books and games — yet for those who have been following Artyom from the very beginning, Metro 2035 crowns the saga in its own way. Characters of all the books and games meet here, their destinies intertwine, and everything you knew about the world of Metro is turned upside down…"

4A Games’ Metro 2033 originally released in 2010 with its follow-up, Metro: Last Light, releasing in 2013.

Yeah, Metro felt like STALKER at first glance but was missing the open world emergent stuff.

Cus it's made by an exodus group from GSC after the main guy hoarded all the money from cossacks and stalker.

Hey...something to actually look forward to in 2017! Assuming the developed world doesn't collapse into chaos, of course

Beautiful. Last Light is on par with Half Life 2 for me.

      Genuinely can't wait.

Thought this said Mario, then thought Metroid, double disappointment.
