Remember what Georg Broussard said about the new Unreal tech:
"2) Landscape is cool. We had our own landscape engine capable of ten's of thousands of polys at 50 fps a long time ago. They are about the simplest rendering engines to write."
So, I don't really fear that Sacrifice (or any of those landscape engine games) won't run fast enough.
I just tested one of the more intensive 2 player Sacrifice maps with about 24000 polys on screen at 1024x768x32 bit. I was getting 30fps or better except when the battles got really heated. Make no mistake the Sacrifice engine is designed for detail not shere FPS. On a powerful enough machine it will go to very high framerates, but only when its maxed-out all the detail available in each object. Until if gets to that point though, it will just do its best to stay above the user requested framerate (default=20). This is a strategy game, not a shooter, so we felt that was a good way to go with the engine.

This game is looking quite good - I think it's these new terrain engines people are releasing movies of, they just look amazing

UT "new tech" screenshots (3 - 4 weeks ago?)
Lithtec (yes lithtec) movie of around 6+ months ago
Giants, Citizen Kabuto
These 5 things all have movies / screenshots with scenery that looks fucking "dialed" (thanks billy) I wonder if any of these will ACTUALLY play well.
We know Lithtec's movie mustve been fake cause it was 30fps at least 20000 polygons, NOLF demo would be 1/4 the polygons and still half the frame rate
what about the rest..?
