Rockstar releases another Red Dead Redemption 2 teaser

Just 24 hours after setting the Internet ablaze with its original tease, Rockstar Games has once again teased something related to its iconic Red Dead series.

Rockstar Games has once again set the Internet ablaze by following up yesterday’s Red Dead Redemption-related tease with a new one.

Rockstar Game took to its Twitter account to tease something we, once again, believe to be related to a new Red Dead Redemption. This morning’s tease shows seven silhouettes who appear to be wearing clothing reminiscent of attire worn in the Wild West.

The seven silhouettes also lead us to believe Rockstar Games will be offering their take on the Magnificent Seven, which was originally released in 1960 prior to its revival in September 2016.

Red Dead Redemption has been one of Rockstar Games’ most beloved games as it shipped over 14 million copies just last year, although it certainly sold more copies soon after it became available as an Xbox One backwards-compatible title this past Summer. We’ve heard rumors of both a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption being in the works in addition Rockstar possibly working on Red Dead Redemption 2.

Today’s tease will certainly fan the flames of fans of Rockstar’s Red Dead series, although it’s still unknown at this time what exactly the studio is teasing at this moment.

Never gonna happen. It's been said the engine had to be seriously jacked up to work on PS3

Ok? The Playstation 3's architecture was unique and notoriously difficult to program for, so that's not a surprise. The game was,a s I'm sure you know, also released on the Xbox 360, the structure of which more nearly resembles that of a PC, hence the numerous 360 ports to PC.

360 was like a PowerPC Mac, you're thinking of the first Xbox.

In any case, pointing to the PS3's architecture as a reason a PC port can't happen is effectively a non sequitur.

yea i never got why people used that rationale for why it wasn't released on PC. Super flimsy logic.

It's really not. It's a game who's codebase is made for two completely different architectures both of which are nothing like a PC..

yea, that's bullshit. Plus they've got it running on the Xbox One and that's very much a modern PC.

I'm pretty sure that's through some 360 emulation and doing that as a regular PC release is a whole other thing that afaik nobody has ever done. Sure it's probably technically possible but the legal/business aspects would be pretty weird.

So just to clarify, you're saying that a PS3/360 exclusive has never been ported to the PC before?

Ported yes but that's not how they released it on XBO. That wasn't a port. It's emulation.

Xbox one back compat is essentially a full 360 VM if I recall.

It is, but it's still running on essentially PC hardware making the entire argument of "it could never happen!" moot.

I wish Sony hadn't gone all in on the OnLive-style streaming solution for backwards compatibility and had instead invested in a VM or emulation-based approach. :(

I won't pretend to fully understand it, but essentially we are talking about porting a game that was developed on PowerPC architecture to x86 architecture. That's two different sets of instructions and probably not trivial.

I think they should rerelease the first one on latest platforms including PC to hype up a sequel coming out late next year.

I bought an XBO just for it. It runs at a silky smooth and stable 30fps the entire time, so it's the best possible way to play one of the best games ever. No regrets.

Still wondering how that works in regards to which version of the game it uses. If it forces the latest multiplayer update that breaks Undead Nightmare in various ways, that would be unfortunate. Haven't really seen mention of that yet.

With the GOTY disc version on the 360 I have to pull the plug on the internet so it can't pull down the updates if I ever want to play Undead Nightmare bug free.

Here's a list of all the show stoppers they never fixed: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/203560506-RDR-Undead-Nightmare-Missing-heads-various-other-glitches

It's not really performance related, the game just flat out breaks after playing it for a time with the most recent update (which is 2 years old at this point)

Well there's my answer, the last post in that thread says it is still an issue on the Xbox One since it does force the latest version. Damn, that really fucking sucks.

It's basically unplayable when it starts happening. Can't believe they never fixed it.

You should give a shot sometime and see!

Maybe it's just some specific condition that causes it to break and not universal?

I only know that when it does break, there's no way to completely un-break it. Restarting the game will delay it for a few minutes, so you have to rush and try and complete one of the missions before it craps out again.

they totally are. I love their weekly DF Retro videos where they apply their modern analysis methods to classic games, and the recent video on Daytona USA in particular was insightful as all get out. Kind of crazy how the Saturn version ran at different framerates depending on what portion of the screen was being looked at, making it impossible to get their snazzy graphing program working with it.

Ok, so popping in Undead Nightmare incurs a fresh 7.5gig download, so it's just a separate stand alone emulation environment for it instead of piggybacking on the base game. The bloat is worst for the XBLA titles that balloon up to >600megs since they need to have their own instances. Largest official Doom II release (up from ~34megs on the 360).

I don't know if the online still works btw. But the last update to the game way back when was entirely multiplayer focused, and apparently poorly tested because of the side effects in how much it breaks Undead Nightmare.

The regular game seemed fine last I played it though. And Undead Nightmare does work for a time before it starts glitching out, but once it does you're straight up fucked. Some missions will never finish until you restart the game. And then when you load back in you have at most 10-20 minutes before it breaks again and you have to restart the game. And so on. It's extremely frustrating.

It's that time of year for some Undead Nightmare, but the thought of dealing with that stuff again is just really off-putting to me, even though I do have a way to avoid it on the 360 with the disc version. I didn't find out about the "fix" of deleting and avoiding the title updates until after the 3rd time I tried to play it in the broken state. I did play it once when it was new just fine, though.

I had the game on PS3 and the DLC. When I got rid of my PS3 I ended up buying the GOTY version on disc for 360.
