Upcoming Pokemon Go update will let you bring six Pokemon into friendly gyms

Niantic also plans to make adjustments to Pokemon CP levels.

Niantic published a blog post explaining that Pokemon Go's next update will let you bring more Pokemon into friendly gyms.

"As we continue to make improvements to Pokemon GO, we have made an enhancement to the Gym experience for Trainers of all levels. In an upcoming version of Pokemon GO, when training at a friendly Gym, Trainers will be able to bring six Pokemon to battle instead of one."

To level the playing field, the same update will dynamically adjust the CP level of the Pokemon you train against. The idea is that lowering or raising CP levels will give you a better idea of how your pocket monsters perform against evenly matched critters.

Niantic did not mention an ETA for the patch, only that the changes will be implemented in "an upcoming version."

If you fell off the Pokemon Go bandwagon after the excitement around its release this summer wound down, Niantic's pushed out several updates that might catch your interest. The Buddy Update lets a Pokemon of your choice pal around with you while you walk, earning you perks as you go.

The developer teased PVP combat—the bread-and-butter of Nintendo's mainline series—in a future update, though nothing has been confirmed.
