Google Is Gearing Up To Announce Its Own Smartphone

You may want to hold off on purchasing that iPhone 7 if you're a Google fan.

Could Google be planning on releasing its own smartphone? If the latest announcement from the search engine giant is anything to go by, that could very well be what's happening.

The URL madeby.google.com features a heading of "Oct. 4" and features an ever-changing gif image of a smartphone-shaped placeholder with varying photographic shots. It almost certainly has to be a smartphone, which is pretty exciting.

Unfortunately, the teaser doesn't reveal much more than what could possibly be the silhouette of the upcoming phone, but it's clear Google is reaffirming its plans to market new phones, likely the Pixel line referred to previously. HTC has been rumored to be the manufacturer of the new Pixel line for some time now, but this is the first time Google has publicly announced a release date for its upcoming line, so this is pretty big news.

Check back here on October 4th for coverage of Google's new smartphone line.
