During today’s Apple Special Event, Niantic has announced Pokemon Go will be available on the Apple Watch before the end of the year.

Pokemon Go on the Apple Watch serves as a way to alert players of Pokemon are within a particular area, how many kilometers you’ll need to hatch an egg, and also inform Trainers of any nearby Pokestops.

Many of the core Pokemon Go gameplay features will be available on the Apple Watch version, which includes hatching eggs and earning items from Pokestops. Unfortunately, it appears the Apple Watch version of Pokemon Go doesn’t allow to directly capture any Pokemon that suddenly become available in a particular area. Instead, Trainers would need to pull out their iPhone in order to attempt to capture a Pokemon.

The Apple Watch version of Pokemon Go is expected to launch by the end of the year.
