Apple fans can only hope for one more thing...

Apple Inc. is holding a special event in San Francisco, CA today at 1 PM EDT. The company is widely expected to announce the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus is rumored to sport a brand new stereoscopic camera. Both phone models will likely boost their storage capacity with a range of 32 GB to 256 GB. It is also widely expected that Apple will ditch the headphone jack and require a lighning port dongle for users that want to keep their traditional headphones. This likely will be accompanied by an announcement of new Beats audio products ranging from wireless earbuds, rumored to be named Airpods, and potentially new Beats by Dre headphones with a proprietary lightning cable. Apple Inc. is also expected to announce the long-awaited Apple Watch product refresh, sporting a thinner design and embedded GPS. Lastly, the company will announce price drops of their legacy iPhone models.

Apple is the largest company in the world by market capitalization and iPhone is their largest product category. This is an important day for the company as they are currently experiencing their first year over year decline in revenues in 13 years. It is likely that iPhone 7 will become available for preorder as soon as September 9 and will be accompanied by a price bump of $50. This should help the company pad their margins which have dropped below 40% in recent quarters.

I am interested in seeing what software will accompany the advancements in the iPhone 7 Plus' camera technology. Apple Inc. has made several investments in augmented reality and Tim Cook said that the company will continue to invest in AR on their most recent earnings conference call. It is possible that customers could also see a refresh of the Beats Pill speaker with some Siri functionality, but that is merely speculation. Sadly, it seems that Mac and iPad fans will have to wait until next month to hear about the future of those product lines as this is likely going to be an event centered around the iPhone. Are you going to be upgrading to the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus this fall? Do you think there will be one more thing at today's presentation? Let us know in the comments section.
