Yikes, managed to screw up my sleep schedule in one fatal swoop. At any rate I woke up to this story in my inbox and I felt you guys may wish to discuss the sociological impacts of such things. Thanks Jeremy Horne

Last March, Gov. Lincoln Almond named Mr. Potato Head the official "spokespud" of Rhode Island and started putting up statues of Mr. Potato Head to promote tourism. [...] , the Associated Press reports that one of these statues has been deemed racist and will be taken down. The offending statue is the Tourist Potato.

  • I experience rascism all the time then this clown says that black people are as racist as you can get? Think about that statement and how you label all black people. Think about all the shit that has happened to them. Think about how hard it is for a lot of people who are trying to get a job, who the white employers are scared off, the same people like you who take one look and you already decide the guy is a thug or whatever. Don't come telling me white people are all friendly and love everybody. Thats some serious shit. I live rascism. From the moment I left Nigeria. Living in Europe and now the USA I see it everyday from the ones who truly hate me cause I am black to the ones who won't say anything but make up their minds before they know you. The problem with people you anon loser is that just cause you don't experience it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Do you enjoy walking down the street and having women clutch their purses? Or having people working at the store pace around you when they see you walk in? The reason why some black people seem not to like white people is cause the whites treat them like shit! That is why I am in awe of people like Mandela. After hearing and reading all the fucked up shit they did to the black south african and see the white people saying, "Fuck them I was born here and its my country" I would have slaughtered every single fucking one of them. Its hard to think "Well not all of them are bad" When you see the fruits of the hatred show so much more clearly and its obvious that the enlightend ones are by far the minority. But Mandela did the right thing cause you can't make generalizations about people and act on it cause no matter how small the number you have to respect the individuals rights.
I'm Nigerian, born and raised and I get dissapointed when I watch BET. The only real black channel (yeah some of you dumbasses will say 'black' channel is rascist but you forget who owns all the other million channels and who they are geared towards. OPEN YOUR EYES) All I see on BET is clowns coming out and almost promoting ghetto life, a white person turns on BET and the sterotypes get enforced. I'm tired of the Al Sharpton type loosers who white people will see on tv and immediately think they speak for all black people, the potato head retards who insult themselves by saying they look like mr. potato head. And chose to make a big deal out of something like that while their efforts could be used for something more productive. Theres stupid activists everywhere that crusade blindly like the GreenPeace ppl who drive SUV's or the animal activist/vegetarians who where clothes made from animals they too are all blinded and can't see the bigger picture.
I have plenty of white friends some of which had ideas about me before knowing me and now see me as a person but I can't be fucked to go around changing people and letting them open their minds and judge people by who they are, i'm not on a crusade to end rascism. I have my own life to live. I can see how white people get tired of this potato head type stuff but if you cannot understand where the minorites are coming from and why all these types of issues pop up. The funny part about all this is that I am Nigerian and have as much in common with whites in this country as I do with the black. The only similarity with the blacks is the color of my skin and the difference is the way I am treated differently by both in general.

I beg you people. Always try to get the other persons point of view first.
