Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience will launch in the US on October 11 and will retail for $49.99.

We learned of the special Metal Gear Solid 5 bundle yesterday as its Japanese version popped up, showing off its cover art which confirmed both Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain would be included. Today’s announcement confirms the same information as well as confirming all downloadable content for both the single- and multi-player portions will be included.

The full list of downloadable content includes approximately 38 pieces across both games and Metal Gear Online. These include missions, although the majority are items, costumes, and Mother Base content.

Content for the PC version of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience has yet to be disclosed by Konami, although the publisher says additional information regarding that version will be revealed soon.

While Ground Zeroes felt more like a demo than an actual game, Konami more than made up for it with The Phantom Pain. This combination pack seems like a no-brainer to us if you have yet to experience either Metal Gear Solid 5 games, and with the holidays coming soon, we’re sure its price will drop later this year.

Man, it's such a shame that basically a single design decision ruined this game for me: The fact that Snake would not fucking die when shot. I counted I had to be shot around 30 times with an assault rifle to die? WTF?

I enjoyed the mechanics otherwise, I loved the wacky story, I enjoyed the locations and everything. But I can NOT enjoy a stealth game if the best method of making progress is just mowing everyone down. Every time I was seen I had basically two choices: Load game, or wipe out the base with a firefight. Both completely ruin the immersion for me.

I am aware that the missions get harder with time and apparently even some hard mode is unlocked, and I'll have to try and force myself to play further at some point. I gave up around the 10 hour mark because I simply was not getting any atmosphere out of the game due to being an invincible god, or alternatively having to reload every time I was spotted.

I know it's a silly complaint - what's the difference to just getting instantly killed and then reloading? The difference is immersion. :(

Yeah, and there seemed to be lots of consequences to your character's progression in the world if you ended up brute forcing your way through a mission. Like, you didn't get a good rank, enemies would patrol more, start wearing body armor, all sorts of stuff. But to play a mission in stealth would take like an hour, with hardly any checkpoints.

So I stopped playing around 20% completion, unfortunately.

Worth noting that this game is modded all to hell and back on PC. You might check out the nexus and see if there's a mod that makes you more fragile and try the game again.
