If you want to explore the story of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided even more, Square Enix have given you that option. Thanks to a special DLC story titled ‘Desperate Measures’, players can also dive into Jensen’s life for some additional time in the chaotic world of Deus Ex. However, if you want to truly enjoy the game, as well as the DLC, you’re going to need to know a couple of things going in.
First off, don’t play Desperate Measures until you have completed Mankind Divided. Desperate Measures actually takes place after the events of Mankind Divided, so if you don’t want to spoil the game’s main plot points for yourself, please refrain from playing the DLC before completion. Once you’ve completed the main game, return to the Jensen Stories DLC section to get things started.
Starting the DLC story missions is actually extremely easy. All you need to do is launch the game, navigate to the main menu, and then locate the area marked Jensen Stories. Select it to open up a new area of the menu.
You should see the Desperate Measures story mission in the dropdown list. To start the story simply select it, and press Enter. This will spawn a notification advising you that the DLC mission might uncover main story details, just ignore this warning if you’ve already completed the main story. If you haven’t completed the main story, press the ESC key, and head back into the main game before continuing.
Of course, as with anything, you have the complete option to go ahead and launch this standalone mission as soon as you load the game up. Just be aware that you might spoil the big plot points from the game’s main storyline, which might affect how you feel about certain plot twists and turns.
You will also be able to start all new standalone missions from this menu location as they release throughout the game's lifecycle.
