Yooka-Laylee trailer hearkens back to the days of colorful 3D platformers on Nintendo 64

The spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie continues to shape up nicely.

3D platformers never sunk their hooks into the gamer collective as deep as their 2D counterparts, but Rare's Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie were "tooie" of the best, and Yooka-Laylee looks to pick up where they left off.

Playtonic came to Gamescom with another trailer showing off more gameplay. Although Yooka-Laylee was delayed to early 2017, the Toy Box—a sandbox-type area where you're free to mess around with the game's controls and mechanics—went out to Kickstarter backers in late July.
