Outlast 2 release date pushed back to Q1 2017

You'll have a few more months until Outlast 2 turns your hair grey from fright.

Red Barrel Games’ Outlast 2 is currently in development and was originally planned to be released in the Fall of 2016, but today, the studio has confirmed our hair won’t be going grey from fright this year. Instead, Outlast 2 is now expected to release in Q1 2017.

“We had to make a difficult decision recently,” Red Barrel Games shared in a post on its official Facebook page. “After weighing our options we’ve decided to postpone Outlast 2’s release until Q1 of 2017. ...Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That’s why we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve. ...we could not, in good conscience, release a game who’s limits haven’t been tested to the extreme.”

While this bit of news is something Red Barrel Games doesn’t like to announce, we’re hoping the extra time will result in a truly terrifying experience, so long as it has nothing to do with the original’s asylum location. Judging by its latest trailer, we could be seeing some creepy visuals in the woods or some other outdoor location.
