Overwatch boosts Ana, changes McCree (again)

The tweaks keep on coming.

Sniper support specialist Ana has been well received since she was introduced in Overwatch last week, but as Blizzard does regularly with its heroes, she is already getting a few changes.

In the latest patch notes, the rate of fire on her Biotic Sniper Rifle was increased by 20 percent, and the magazine size was increased for eight to 10. The reasoning from the dev team: "While Ana has been very well received, she was showing to be a little bit weaker overall. In addition to helping her feel better to play, these changes should also increase her healing and damage output."

Also, McCree had some changes made again. In the patch that added Ana, his damage was maintained and midrange and drops at extreme range. Now, the damage falloff range with his Peacekeepers has been decreased by 10 meters, while the alt rate of fire has been increased by 15 percent. Also, recovery time from his flashbang has been decrease from 0.5 seconds to 0.35 seconds. From the devs: "McCree’s latest range increase helped him quite a bit, but it was a bit too much in the right hands. This change weakens his long range damage somewhat, but still keeps it stronger than it has been in the recent past. The other changes combine to allow him to land more alternate fire shots on targets that he has hit with Flashbang."

Other fixes:

  • Targets of Ana’s Sleep Dart will no longer instantly recover when damaged (recovery time is now 0.5 seconds)
  • Fixed UI compatibility issues for ATI cards
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause Lúcio, Mei, and other models to only partially render (or disappear)
