PlayStation 4 update 4.0 beta sign ups are now available; launches in early August

Sony is once again inviting beta testers to check out the upcoming patch for its PlayStation 4, update 4.0, by allowing anyone interested in testing it to sign up starting today.

The PlayStation 4 System Software 4.0 Beta is expected to begin in early August, which will allow beta testers to try out a number of new features, one of which may include folders. Beta signups will remain open until the start of the update 4.0 beta in early August, just remember that you need to be 18 years or older in order to participate and signing up won’t guarantee you a spot in the beta.

If you’re accepted into the program, you’ll receive an email from Sony with instructions on how to download the beta software. If something goes wrong when you update your console to the beta for update 4.0, you’ll be given the ability to roll your software back to update 3.55 at any time.

Sony previously accepted beta testers for the PS4’s 3.0 and 3.5 software updates, which we assume went well for the company considering it’s holding yet another beta test for another update. And just like the previous betas, we're sure we'll learn more about what's planned for update 4.0 prior to Sony's official announcement through random leaks.
