It’s been nearly seven years since we were able to team up with Earth’s mightiest heroes, and while fans of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance still wait for Activision to release another sequel, at least they can enjoy both games on current gen and PC as it’ll be released digitally starting tomorrow.

Marvel announced Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 will released digitally during one of its San Diego Comic-Con panels. The Marvel Ultimate Alliance series will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, which executive producer Mike Jones believes now would be the most opportune time to re-introduce it to gamers. “It’s a perfect time to play these games if you missed them the first time or replay with new friends and new Super Hero dream teams,” he says in an interview conducted on Marvel.com.

Whether or not this means we could be seeing a new Marvel Ultimate Alliance game has yet to be confirmed, but Jones says “Following the footsteps of a proud Marvel tradition, I’ll say: Anything is possible, True Believers!”

Marvel Ultimate Alliance will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam starting July 26th for $39.99 each, or $59.99 for its bundle.

I guess that means the 360 versions won't be coming to backward compatibility then? It kind of sucks I have to re-buy them both if I don't want to keep a 360 around.

You can't get any of the DLC with the 360 version, so I'm good with this.

The digital version they put back up for sale a few months ago actually has the previously unpurchasable DLC included which is how I justified to myself spending the $19.99 a piece to re-buy them. My kids just love both games and play them over and over.

Oh wow, didn't know they put them back up. I just remember trying to grab them a few years ago, and the "ultimate" edition going for like $100 on ebay.

Which one should a newbie to the series get? I played the first X-Men Legends game a little, but not much.

This sounds expensive for no remastering, no?

Wow, fun games. But if they don't improve the graphics they will look really dated. I tried playing them a few years ago and it was pretty fugly looking. I loved them the first time I played them though!

1st game the best coop combo is Wolverine and Deadpool. Just saying.
