Who is Doctors Without Borders?

Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) is an international medical humanitarian organization providing aid in nearly 70 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, exclusion from health care, natural disasters, or malnutrition.

MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. MSF reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocol. In 1999, MSF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its work.

Asif Khan

CEO/EIC/EIEIO

Asif Khan is the CEO, EIC, and majority shareholder of Shacknews. He began his career in video game journalism as a freelancer in 2001 for Tendobox.com. Asif is a CPA and was formerly an investment adviser representative. After much success in his own personal investments, he retired from his day job in financial services and is currently focused on new private investments. His favorite PC game of all time is Duke Nukem 3D, and he is an unapologetic fan of most things Nintendo. Asif first frequented the Shack when it was sCary's Shugashack to find all things Quake. When he is not immersed in investments or gaming he is a purveyor of fine electronic music. Asif also has an irrational love of Cleveland sports.

  It's looking like they'll break a million. I'm guessing it'll be during the Super Metroid race as there'll be a last minute rush for Save/Kill the animals.

    Save and kill are both at $95K and change right now, so it could keep heating up for sure. Even the Demon Chocobo / Good Taste ones are at $12K+ each right now. Two close contests hopefully motivating people!

    GDQ doesn't deal with the funds at all. The donations are going directly to Doctors Without Borders.

      True, the transaction is direct to MSF, and I sure hope they aren't dealing with charge backs. Not unless somebody shows fraud.

      But is it possible that people do crazy donations to win an incentive and then chargeback afterwards?
      
      Ive seen first hand how people will try to abuse these systems and use chargebacks to gain free perks.

        It's certainly been rumored to have happened repeatedly, including the $10K donation that resulted in saving the animals a few GDQs ago. Not sure how true those rumors are.

  I'm happy I still have my Final Fantasy III cartridge. I still remember the first time I played it on Christmas Day. I also recall doing the sketch glitch a lot (free experience eggs!), but I did it with Realm's Command ability (on Creepers in the World of Ruin). I also broke the game to the point where I'd beat Kefka with an army of Imps (all with the imp gear).
  
  It's such an amazing game.
