Sierra owns the rights to both Tribes(2) and TF2. Does everyone think Sierra was going to allow both to be released within a 'short' period of time?
When it comes right down to it, that is why TF2 has been delayed. As for the new 'engine'? Wouldnt be surprised if/when after TF2 is released late next year that Tribes(3) uses the same engine. {Sierra aint exactly in the 'game engine' consumer market}

i meen switching to the new engine basically gets them anything they want. they can do vehicles right if the ywant im sure, they do terrain if they want im sure, they can do higher world and model triangles counts im sure. they are probably ditching software renderer. also the longer they wait the higher the min system specs are and the more people with broadband, the more people able to take use of the voice communication. also they scarapped the 1st version of HL too and that worked out good for them so they were probably even more OK with it the second time around.
