E3 2016: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild blows up social media

You can do anything with numbers, but the lines at the show are a good indicator as well.

If you ask our own David Craddock and Steve Watts, they will tell you that Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reveal during its Treehouse presentation on Tuesday was the hit of the show. And if you go by he standing room only lines of people waiting to try the game at the huge Nintendo booth where Zelda is the ONLY new game available, that should let you know that Zelda is a hit waiting to happen come March of next year.

But don't take our word for it, let's look at some numbers. According to Brandwatch, Zelda has more than 80,000 social media mentions for June 12-14, compared to about half that for the next closest rival, Battlefield 1. The chart was based on a 10% sampling of conversations, but that is a pretty impressive showing. Of course, we aren't sure whether the mentions were good or bad, but the game was being talked about heavily:

As for Twitter, the conversation trend was similar, but a 3-1 margin this time: 

Granted, you can do anything with numbers, but it is still an interesting look at what the main topics of conversation were. The Brandwatch piece also breaks down the various press conferences, and declared Microsoft the winner.
