Survival horror is dead. Long live survival horror.

At Sony's E3 conference, Capcom announced Resident Evil 7, a new entry in the troubled series and a return to its roots. Viewed from first-person, the game is compatible with PlayStation VR, and will be released on January 24, 2017.

Can't wait to set foot in RE7's dilapidated environs? We can't either, and you don't have to: a demo is available now for PlayStation Plus members.

Also fully playable in psvr is awesome too; looks like a very creepy setting akin to the PT demo.

This is looking more and more like the game that will sell me on VR. I've wanted a "real" video game in VR, not a tech demo. Hopefully RE7 feels like a fully realized experience even without a headset strapped on.

This looks... awesome? We can't tell what it's going to play like at the moment (I'm concerned that it'll either go too batshit an hour in, or not batshit enough) but taking things back to a spooky old mansion full of zombies is exactly the kick up the arse that the mainline Resident Evil series needed.

      The logo is sweet, too.

and the name is Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in the West.

        In Japan?
        Biohazard 7: Resident Evil

which is gloriously dumb but also kind of fitting.
