Apple Earnings Warnings
by Maarten Goldstein, Sep 28, 2000 2:44pm PDTNot only Intel knows how to shock with earnings warnings, Apple has done the same. Their sales only increased a little bit, and the company now expects earnings to be about 15 cents per share lower than expected. Sales of the Power G4 Cube have been slower than expected. The stock dropped $4.56 to $53.50 when the stock market was still open, dropped to $42 in after-hours trading but is now at $52. Seems the happy times for Apple are over, at least for now.
"We've clearly hit a speedbump, which will result in our earning, before investment gains, approximately $110 million rather than the expected $165 million for the September quarter," said CEO Steve Jobs in a prepared release. "Though this slowdown is disappointing, we have so many wonderful new products and programs in the pipeline-including Mac OS X early next year-and remain positive about our future."

Beat this, 56k (modem speed couldve been 14.4.. same price anyway) modem , $700 bill per quarter. Time before this one was $900, and if i hadnt been away for five weeks this summer im sure the bill would've been upwards $1100-$1200. Cry for me.
I'm getting 10mbit in December though, for about one tenth of my current connection-cost. Let's hope that's what happens.
