EA Mobile and PopCap have announced the triumphant return to Bejeweled as Bejeweled Stars is now available on the App Store and Google Play.

Bejeweled Stars features all-new challenges, collections, and different ways for players to express themselves as both Felis and Corvus guide you into a reimagining of the Bejeweled series.

Players will be able to collect SkyGems as they play, which can be use to create Powers like the Scrambler, Flame Swapper, Flutter Gust and more. New challenges will also test your mettle as you’ll be able to turn obstacles into your advantage as you get to know Currents, Clouds, Glaciers, and more. Players will also complete Constellations to unlock Super Powers by earning Stars.

Bejeweled Stars also allows players the opportunity to open special Chests that unlock Charms and Bejeweled emojis, which can be used to express yourself and send personal messages to friends.

“We’re excited to introduce the world to the latest iteration of Bejeweled and we’ve designed this game with our players in mind. Whether you’re squeezing in a game or dedicating hours to trying a new strategy, we want to deliver a rich and satisfying experience,” said general manager of Bejeweled Stars, Heather Hazen. “At PopCap, we’re known for polish and personality, so once you add the gameplay innovations in Bejeweled Stars, we think we’ve found the perfect match.”

Bejeweled Stars is now available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Just from reading this I don't even have to see the app page to know it's got IAP to temp you with higher score bonus stuff. Thing is, after playing a good bit of Bejeweled Blitz, I realized that spending the in-game currency for the bonuses wasn't always a given that you'd have a higher score. I'm assuming that'll be the case here, so why spend the real money here? bleh. Whales have ruined mobile games forever.
