We've known that Nintendo is planning a new NX console for awhile now, but today, the company officially gave us a release date of March 2017.

In a report to investors, Nintendo of Japan said the console would not be shown at E3 this year, but will have a separate unveiling later this year. It also continues to refer to the console by its NX codename.

No other details on the console itself were released, but it did confirm that The Legend of Zelda game would release simultaneously on Wii U and NX when the console is launched.

In addition, the company did acknowledge a continued push into the mobile scene.

“As we report the results of the last fiscal year, we also look forward to an exciting period ahead with further growth in our mobile business, new products for our dedicated video game systems and continued progress in our efforts to increase the number of consumers experiencing our IP through games, licensing and expanded entertainment,” Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said in a press release.

Miitomi, Nintendo’s first app for smartphones and tablets, has already crossed 10 million unique users worldwide. The social app launched in the United States on March 31, and two weeks earlier in Japan. Nintendo will run a special 10-day “Celebrating 10 Million Users!” promotion April 29 through May 8.
