Having conquered the soccer pitch, Rocket League has its eyes... er, headlights fixed on the basketball court.

Psyonix excited players when it announced Rocket League would receive a new Hoops mode inspired by basketball, for free, sometime in April. Today, the developer released concrete details: Hoops mode is coming next Tuesday, April 26, as part of a free content update for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

"Psyonix's new Hoops mode adds a dynamic basketball twist to the wildly-successful soccer-meets-driving concept," the developer explained in a press release. The mode includes Dunk House, an arena modeled after a basketball court. Using the net as a ramp, you'll need to bring your aerial skills to bear to drive the ball into the basket.

All players will obtain a flag bearing the NBA logo as part of the update. You can buy flag packs sporting your favorite team's log by purchasing the NBA Flag pack for $1.99 USD.

If you haven't already, be sure to download the 1.16 patch ahead of next Tuesday's update.

There is a backboard. And you can launch balls into the air just driving into them on the ground. Aerials will just make dunks possible, but you won't need them to score.

I used to suck as well at aerial as well. Figured out the trick, jump and launch before you think you'll need to, and use the rocket to aim from there.

My aerial game has improved dramatically.

The training modes really help because of the unlimited boost. You can go in there and mess around while waiting for matchmaking as well.

Getting airborne is easy, it's making contact on a moving target that's initially difficult.
