DrinkBox Studios, the team responsible for Guacamelee and several other indie hits, took to Sony's PlayStation blog to spread news of their next game, Severed, for PlayStation Vita.

Severed is a first-person dungeon crawl that puts a spin on RPG conventions. You control a one-armed protagonist named Sasha able to equip the bloody, cooling corpses of her foes to inherit their abilities. Along the way, you'll solve puzzles using swipe controls and fights all sorts of nightmarish monsters.

Severed will launch on April 26 for $14.99, and DrinkBox promises a 10 percent discount to members of PS Plus during launch week.

In developing Severed, developers at DrinkBox learned that good things do indeed come to those who wait. "Severed was initially planned as a Spring 2015 release, but after showing an early demo of the game at PlayStation Experience in December 2014, we became inspired with a ton of new ideas and decided there was a lot more we wanted to add," explained COO Graham Smith. It only took a whole extra year, but we’ve finally finished packing in as much as we could into Severed and we’re really happy with how it has turned out."

For a sample of Severed's ambiance weeks before its April 26 launch date, you can download the soundtrack for free on YTST Labs.
