X-Box Interview
by Maarten Goldstein, Sep 24, 2000 6:52am PDTGamecenter has a big ass X-Box interview (they call it monster interview themselves), talking to Seamus Blackley of Microsoft. Blackley was actually the guy who first though of the idea of doing a console. There's information on developer support, the hardware specs, the XDKs, if they are still on track for the fall 2001 date, the broadband support and just a heck of a lot more.
GC: But this is now. This is Xbox. This is a Windows 2000 kernel, it's got a hard drive... S.B.: Nah, it's a game console. This is the thing: we have not talked to consumers yet. Seriously, think about it--we haven't done a single thing for consumers. We've only talked to developers and publishers. We've gone out to developers and we've said, "Hey, here are the components, here are the tools." We bring a lot of stuff from the PC, but it's not a PC, and they understand that. For consumers it's a little confusing because they see "Pentium" and "hard drive" and they think, "Oh, this must be a junior PC." Of course, Konami is not confused that it's a game console, right? So people should take great heart in the fact that [Konami] understands that it's a console, as do all the other partners we have. Because like I said before, shockingly, game consoles are computers. You should never confuse [Xbox] with a PC and you should never confuse the content with PC content; I mean it's all console content. When we actually start talking to consumers and showing games, that's going to be really, really clear. You're going to see this box and it runs console games.

I'd post on topic but don't want anything to do with an X-Box.

viper 770
and it should list 2 items.
Then type tnt2 ultra
And it will list 5 over priced cards
I think the X-Box is going to be a joke. Know why? Because 1 month after it's release there will be better drivers for the video card. Can you imagine nVidia devising a fool-proof console auto-upgrade driver scheme? Look what we have to go through now!

They really need to use Linux or something.

S.B.: No! Nobody wants a browser on a game box. And I'm not trying to be down on Sega, but if you talk to parents who are buying a lot of game consoles for their kids--oh my lord, they don't want their kids to have a browser in their bedrooms. Are you kidding?
Hmph. So much for IE being an "integral part" of Windows.

I'm trying to add a binding code in my q3config.cfg file, so I copy & paste it into the end of my q3config.cfg, then close & save it. When I boot up q3arena the first time after saving the file, it works dandy, but once I exit the game, and then reload it, the bind doesn't work anymore! What am I doing wrong?
Please help & thanks!
