Overwatch animated short 'Recall' now available

Watch Winston's story play out and learn more about Overwatch in the following animated short.

13

As we reported last week, an animated short was released for Overwatch today called “Recall.” Recall tells the story of one of Overwatch’s Heroes, Winston.

Winston is a genetically-engineered gorilla and brilliant scientist who wishes the days of heroism would return. The short has us joining Winston as he works on a shield generator, which may or may not have gone how he had expected it to. As a result, he decides to take a break and enjoy a snack, which is interrupted by news of ongoing conflict in the world. Winston is reluctant to call Overwatch agents to active duty due to the passing of the Petras Act.

The majority of the animated short takes a look at Winston’s early days, gives us a clue as to where the name Winston came from, and his love for peanut butter. We won’t ruin the short for you, but if you’re at all interested in Overwatch, you should take the time to watch this nearly eight-minute video.

I wish this made it to the MMO stage. Seems like a very interesting world premise.

I don't get why this looks so good (like, Pixar quality), but the Warcraft movie trailers have me cringing every few seconds.

Yea it was all outsourced to the movie studio. Wish they'd done it in house...

Very true but still there are always first try's. Couldn't be worse the Square's attempt to enter movies....

                lol

                (made me curious)
"Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001), was produced by Square subsidiary Square Pictures prior to the merger (Square Pictures is now a consolidated subsidiary of Square Enix).[73] Its box-office failure caused Enix to delay the merger, which was already considered before the creation of the film, for fear of associating itself with a company that loses money." -wiki

massive failure... but now they have an awesome internal cinematics team

The same studio also did the Final Flight of the Osisris for Animatrix.

Please tell me that's not Metzen using his Thrall voice? Jesus I'm tired of his voice and I hope it's just me.
