New Doom trailer highlights all nine multiplayer maps

You better like fighting inside of a space station or somewhere in Hell, because that's all you're getting here.

Bethesda Softworks and iD Software have released a new trailer for DOOM that takes a closer look at the nine multiplayer maps that will be available when the game launches this May.

The nine multiplayer maps offer a nice variety in terms of visuals and layout, although all of them appear to be based off of two distinct locales: the innards of a space station or Hellish locations. One thing is for sure, and that’s the fact that the action appears to be as fast-paced and frantic as we’d expect it to be.

DOOM will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 13, with those who pre-order the Xbox One version eligible for a digital copy of Doom and Doom 2.

That didn’t look all that interesting or fun.
At this point I just hope that the machine studio guys who made wolfenstein new order/old blood get a crack at quake instead.

The more I see from this game the less interested I become and I say that as someone who recently went back an played all the official doom releases including stuff like tnt/plutonia.

It looked like it was just the old game with a new rendering and updated assets. Couldn't tell how it was better/different from just that. Probably too little to pass judgement on. But, that trailer won't do anything to sway someone from another game.

There is more material out there that helps to get a better impression,
          -gameplay footage/screenshots/trailers
          -the alpha
-reading impressions of gaming journalist etc

I have more hopes for the sp on mechanics (and magazine impressions) alone but I don't find the doom3 plastic/grease surface look and lighting very appealing and it really looks more like brutal doom3 meets halo than it looks like doom.

Someone also made a few mashup where he took footage and screenshots and replaced the doom watermark with halo and if you didn’t know it it looked so generic that you would have believed it.

There is lots of things that just don't feel right from what they have shown , starting from simplistic things like weapon sounds and feedback, they all sound weak and unsatisfying (the announcer is even worse).

I want this game to be good but there is zero chance the mp has a half-life more than 2 months based on bethesda's track-record (brink) and the alpha. So I hope that the single player can deliver, they have the engine and the mechanics.

Oh, yeah. My comment was just on this video specifically showcasing MP. At least it isn't monochromatic though, right?

Hope dies last, lets pray that they couldn’t exorcize the remainder of romero's soul and didn’t break the underlying technical requirements of carmack's specs (like low latency/consistent high fps).

All that video really shows is the general look of the maps. The main multiplayer trailer shows more gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNFUAH3V1U4

In this day and age that's a shit load. I'm always pleasantly surprised when there are more than 4.

Considering the amount of detail maps get today that doesn't seem like something to make fun of. :(

As a doom/quake fan I'm getting a bit disapointed with some details. I can understand the lack of strafe jump, original doom didn't have it either but the weapons... why so many? and why the secondary fire mode? and why so much detail?
I would like to see less weapons, no secondary fire mode at all, a more simple weapon design and some brutal and punchy sound and feel to it.
Doom/Quake always had a very particular atmosphere, u could immediately tell by a screenshot that it was a doom/quake room. Now, u won't look dumb if u say it's a unreal tournament or any other modern fps game map :o(
I know I'll still buy it, play it and love it thou.
