Feast Your Eyes Upon The First System Shock Remastered Footage, Hacker

Welcome back to Citadel Station. We hope your somnolent healing stage went well.

When I first heard System Shock was being given a proper remaster, I nearly fell out of my seat. Not because I'm clumsy, but because I nearly grew off the pile of crap in the seat like a leaning tower and fell into the floor. Gross? Yes. True? No. That's hyperbole. But I was indeed that incredulous. I never thought I'd see the day where the PC iniquity from my childhood would receive a complete makeover outside of some updated UIs and textures.

But it is, and System Shock Remastered lives and breathes. Like a fine wine it aged in its original shell, but it was granted a new lease on life by the fine fellows at Night Dive Studios and given the cosmetic surgery it so desperately deserved. And now there's about two minutes of footage to view after a couple of months of teasing about the remastered version of System Shock and the initial announcement of System Shock 3.

I'm practically beside myself with the updates, especially because this footage is undeniably, indubitably System Shock. There's no question. It seems to have been lovingly and carefully redone, and I'm foaming at the mouth to explore Citadel Station once more.

"Make yourself comfortable, Hacker. Stay a while."

Oh, I will be. Staying a while, that is.
