Watch the Nintendo Direct livestream right here beginning at 2 PM PT

No NX or mobile news, just Wii U and 3DS.

16

I know, I know. Nintendo just had a quick and dirty briefing in the form of a special Pokemon Nintendo Direct last week. But there's another one today, March 3, at 2 PM PT/5 PM PT.

While Nintendo officially announced Pokemon Sun and Moon at the last presentation, this one is going to focus on the new Wii U and 3DS titles releasing throughout the summer. Nintendo has made it quite clear, however, that there won't be any news regarding Nintendo's mobile gaming plans or the NX at all.

Nintendo fans looking to expand their libraries (and fuel the hype train) can check out the stream right here at Shacknews as it kicks off today. What do you think will be shown off?

I really hope the new monster hunter game is on Wii U since I hate playing 3DS. Or let Sony have monster hunter again, I wanna play a new monster hunter game on console (not a re-release of an old one)

This is the #1 reason I'm excited for NX, if the rumors are true regarding merging their console & mobile development. So sick of seeing so game announcements for 3DS that would be perfect for Wii U instead.

There's rumors of SNES VC on N3DS, which would be fucking fantastic.

I'm also hoping for a Dragon Quest VII release date.

Before Nintendo adds new platforms to the VC on any platform, they need to unify purchases. I've bought dozens of games from the Wii VC, and while those carried over to my Wii U, none of my NES games (as an example of a classic platform whose titles are available on both the 3DS and Wii U shops) are playable on the 3DS.

Platform unity is so important, especially for a back catalog like Nintendo's. I don't want to buy digital copies of Super Mario World, Zelda: ALttP, etc. more than once.

Definitely. It's especially galling when Sony has had this figured out for quite a while now.

Yeah this is the reason I've stopped buying VC games or really anything on nintendo eshop.

Awesome, the SNES content is locked to only the *NEW* 3DS.

Because, you know, the regular 3DS just doesn't have the chops.

          Surprisingly I think it's true.

I'm not a fan of the SNES exclusivity but the N3DS blows away the old one in every way. Face tracking 3D, fast load times, fast menus, fast everything.

What was intolerable and shitty in the old 3DS is great in the new one.

Best thing they can do is announce that wii u can play 3ds games.

Any chance Zelda U is mentioned, even in passing?

I read that this Direct will focus on Wii U and 3DS titles to be released this spring and summer, and that there will be no mention of mobile games or the NX. That's fine. But it's been nearly 15 months since we got any new information on Zelda U. We don't even know the subtitle.

Just throw me a bone. :(

I bet we get something, but not much. Maybe another short clip or possibly the title? Doubtful for a release date.

I'm definitely not looking for a release date. Crumbs like a subtitle or a glimpse of new footage would be fine.

I mean, they need to discuss Zelda in some capacity, right? Twilight Princess HD drops on Friday, and regardless of how people feel about that game, Nintendo would be downright foolish not to capitalize on the Zelda zeitgeist.
