New World Interactive and Focus Home Interactive have announced Insurgency: Sandstorm will be coming to consoles and PC in 2017.

New World Interactive plans on expanding its popular first-person shooter franchise with the upcoming release of Insurgency: Sandstorm as the original title sold over 2.3 million copies on PC alone. Sandstorm will include a new story mode in addition to the expected co-op and competitive multiplayer modes. It’ll also receive a bump in its visuals as Valve’s Source Engine is being replaced with Unreal Engine 4.

“We are very excited about working with Focus on Insurgency: Sandstorm. We believe there’s a great opportunity for Insurgency on next-gen consoles and that aligning with a strong publisher will allow us to best leverage this,” New World Interactive founder and game director Jeremy Blum said in a statement submitted to Shacknews. “Considering our background, it was not easy finding a publisher we felt compatible with. We decided to work with Focus because they understand our game and they believe in our vision. In addition, they bring a wealth of knowledge when it comes to shipping console games and marketing to that audience.”

Details are scarce at the moment, but you should expected Insurgency: Sandstorm to hit retail and online shelves in 2017.
