GameTrailers has announced after 13 years, it will be closing down today.

In a message sent out through its official Twitter profile, GameTrailers shared the following:

The account says the site will be doing one last Twitch stream tonight at 6pm PT, although it doesn’t give any additional information as to the reason behind the closing.

GameTrailers founder, voice, and editor-in-chief Brandon Jones also had the following to share regarding the closure:

According to associate editor Ben Moore who posted on NeoGAF, it appears the GameTrailers closing was as sudden as it was for the gaming community to hear it. “I just wanted to confirm that GameTrailers is shutting down officially today,” he writes in his post. “Everyone is being let go. We all found out mere hours ago, so we're still reeling a bit.”

We'll continue to update this story as more information comes in. All of us at Shacknews wish those affected by GameTrailers' closure the best of luck in your future endeavors.

I've only saved some of their retrospectives but never got around to getting the rest since I figured they'd be around longer.

We can all blame ourselves for this one. I don't remember when was the last time I went to their site. I just watch all game trailers released by developers and publishers on their own channels on YouTube. After that I can go watch something else on the same site.

Man, that's a bummer. Brandon's voice over reviews and retrospectives have become a staple of the industry.

Damn, I have a lot of good memories in my younger years checking that site every day. Gametrailers.com/screwattack was the first site I would go to most days. Mondays for Top 10s, Wednesdays for AVGN, and the retrospectives were awesome. I haven't visited the site for years, but I'll definitely miss it.

They went under new management a year or so back and as part of that got rid of so many of their popular shows, pack attach etc, i knew it wouldn't be long until this news came.
