PSA: Bayonetta and Corrin officially wrap up Super Smash Bros. DLC at 6:30PM PT tonight

After nearly 15 months, it's over. The Super Smash Bros. DLC train will end with Bayonetta and Corrin tonight.

It's finally time to say goodbye to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS DLC. The game's final two characters are almost ready for pickup from the Nintendo eShop, with Nintendo citing a brief downtime period for the game's online servers. The downtime is expected to end at 6:30PM PT.

Bayonetta and the Umbra Clock Tower stage will come packed together, which means it'll be priced at $5.99 for each platform or $6.99 for both. Fire Emblem Fates' Corrin will run for $4.99 on each platform and $5.99 for both. The full Collection #6, which comes with both characters, the stage, and the last batch of Mii Fighter costumes will run for $15.48 on each platform or $19.88 for both.

That officially marks the end of the DLC train for Nintendo's fighter. It'd be somewhat foolish to expect the game to have the same life cycle and renaissance that Super Smash Bros. Melee has enjoyed over the years, but Nintendo has crafted a fantastic game in itself and a marvelous rebound from the disappointing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nothing left to do, except issue the same sentiment to creator Masahiro Sakurai that he issued to viewers of the final Smash Bros. Direct during its closing seconds:

Oh, there is one thing left. The arrival of Bayonetta and Corrin means a new Smash Bros. patch is incoming. And given Nintendo's track record, there will likely be no patch notes issued. Stay tuned, as Shacknews looks once again to Smashboards to wrangle something together.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
