NVIDIA helps raise the bar on Rise of the Tomb Raider's PC performance

The PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider will soon be here, and thanks to the help of NVIDIA, it looks downright gorgeous.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available to play on PC in less than 24 hours, and today, Square Enix has released a new trailer that focuses on all of the improvements Crystal Dynamics made to this version of the title.

The trailer offers a tech-centric look at the improvements made available to the PC version, including anisotropic filtering, tessellation, dynamic foliage, and support for HBAO+ thanks to a partnership with NVIDIA. HBAO+ is a high-end ambient occlusion technique, which reduces artifacts and produces a richer and more detailed ambient lighting.

Spend the next 3 minutes drooling over all of the improvements that have been made to Rise of the Tomb Raider’s PC version as it’ll release on January 28th.

This looks INSANE! I can not wait for tomorrow, man you are lucky you already played it :)

Thanks for the tech vid link looks so good. The moving dynamic vegetation is my favorite part personally I love that sort of thing, all games should have it by now.

Here is one for you Daniel, is the game in DX12? In the graphics options did you notice that there was a option in a drop down list for it or is it DX11?

Either way I don't care it looks really awesome and above all I love the gamepaly from the last one and I have only heard its even better and still that style.

Nope. No option for DX 11 or 12.

Ah ok, thanks, must be DX11 only then but supper juiced up.

In my video recording software it will tell me when I run it, so if it is DX12 I will know, but I doubt it.

I saw a rumor the PC build includes none of the DX12 asynchronous features that favor AMD gpus, while the console versions do? Any truth to that?

Well it's DX11 only according to the Steam page.

While the game looks nice, sponsored/paid advertisements listed as a "story" just seems disingenuous.

There really isn't anything I wrote that I wouldn't have published in a standard news story. I just killed two birds with one stone.

It's funny that features have been considered standard for years now are advertised as "thank God we have Nvidia for this stuff!".

The lighting effects look really good. Obviously higher res textures than the Xbone too.

I read the title in my mind into "raise the bar for Half-life 3"
