Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns has been exploring a whole new world since October, but now it's time to take some of those skills back to Tyria as part of the big Winter update.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns has been exploring new spaces and unveiling new adventures since its release back in October. One of its biggest features has been a world built with verticality in mind, allowing players to climb to new heights and glide over the jungles of Maguuma. But now, ArenaNet is giving players the chance to take those gliding skills and bring them back to the original land of Tyria for a new way to explore Guild Wars 2's massive landscape.

Heart of Thorns players that have unlocked the Basic Gliding ability in Maguuma can now deploy the gliding skill just about anywhere in the world, including in Tyria. This not only allows players to explore the old world in new ways, but it also allows them to reach certain areas much faster.

Once it's time to stop monkeying around and get back to the story at hand, players will notice that The Shatterer has picked up some new tricks. The champion of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik is not only at a higher level this time around, but he's also learned new tactics to make this battle much tougher than before. He also won't be battling alone, as he'll be flanked by numerous Branded forces.

Other new additions include the dawn of the Lunar New Year, which kicks off today for two weeks, and the arrival of Tybalt Leftpaw as a PvP Mist Champion. For more on Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns' big Winter update, be sure to visit the latest blog post and check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
