Evolve exercises hostile bedside manner with combat medic Emet today

A new Hunter has joined the search for monsters in Evolve today. It's a gentle, yet incredibly hostile, combat medic called Emet.

Evolve is continuing to roll out new content. One would certainly hope so, given that there are two Season Passes to fill up. The latest Hunter to join the monster hunt is Emet, a new combat medic.

Emet is a repurposed medical drone that has been redesigned to help on the battlefield. His abilities include the Replay Cannon, which mark a target and send several homing missiles towards that mark; the Healing Buoys, which can be placed on the field to heal nearby allies; and the Respawn Beacon, which reduces Hunter spawn times to 30 seconds when active.

Evolve is also getting a pair of new character adaptations as part of a free update. Tech Sergeant Hank will get a new Shield Charger, Orbital Drill, and Laser Cutter. Meanwhile, Wasteland Maggie will get a Flame Snare harpoon trap and a Burst Pistol that ignites enemies, while trusty pet Daisy will get a flamethrower backpack.

Emet is part of the Hunting Season 2 pack, but is also available for purchase individually. To get a first look at Emet and his homicidal split personality, check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Fun character design. I wish this game found more of an audience. I'm still eager to see what Turtle Rock do next.

feels like they should convert it to F2P even though that'd probably really piss off the current base, at least then the base would grow.

What they could do is give existing/paid customers an additional set of items, otherwise earnable by the F2P newcomers after a respectable amount of grind.

I'd also prefer this since the pc version is mostly dead. I'd imagine the only reason they haven't might be because the console versions are still doing well.

I don't know; one of them might be pissed off but the other guy will probably just be glad for new players.

I agree with F2P model. They would have made more money from the start if it were their model. The game is quite fun and polished IMO – didn't deserve the vitriol.
