Today's Smash Bros. Direct kicked off with the addition of the game's newest character. It's Corrin, the latest character from the Fire Emblem series to take part in the battle!

Corrin joins the roster from the upcoming Fire Emblem Fates, which is set to hit 3DS next year. Like Robin before him, there are male and female variants of the character. He can use his Yato weapon or his Dragon Fang sword, which enables transformation. His side attacks have a long reach, which extends to aerial attacks, which see Corrin sprout wings.

Dragon Fang Shot is his B attack, which momentarily paralyzes opponents. It can even be charged and hits hard enough to hit more than one opponent at a time. His side-B is Dragon Lunge, which allows Corrin to pin opponents down with a downward thrust, offering up counter potential. His Up-B attack is Dragon Ascent, which gets insane range. His Down-B is Counter Surge, which is a counter move that triggers a transformation and hits both sides equally. Corrin's Final Smash is Torrential Roar, which calls upon a powerful tornado.

Corrin will come with two new music tracks, both from Fire Emblem Fates. Corrin will be available on both Wii U and 3DS in February.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
