Actually .NET is quite a good effort to ease the pain in developing i-net solutions. Not all of it is good (sharp language sux imo), but some of the things seem solid and easy to use. As far as leasing software goes, lot of comapies are doing it allready today,and as far as I can see its the only reliable way to prevent software piracy. Maybe less people will copy it and buy a real license, at the end that should result in lower leasing fees.

I hope to hell this fails miserably. Like I want to download all my executables and .dlls from your servers at some ghey hourly rate? And what about my personal documents like job applications.. do you store that also? What about my pr0n and warez, damn you..

.NET is all about controlling the software you can use and charging by its use. If MS is in control of .NET do you think for one second that a program they don't endorse will find its way onto their servers for distributed use?
