Crytek has announced it has a new game that is coming exclusively to the Oculus Rift called The Climb.

The Climb allows players to experience the ultimate in extreme sports: free solo rock climbing. The title promises to deliver hyper-realistic climbing locations from various locations around the world, and supports the use of either the Xbox One controller or the Oculus Touch controllers.

“Crytek is renowned for leveraging their CRYENGINE tech to create beautiful, immersive games,” said Oculus head of worldwide studios Jason Rubin in a statement submitted to Shacknews. “Their early VR demos really captured public imagination, and to see their ideas come to life with Rift is incredible and not to be missed. The Climb is a beautiful combination of art and thrill that’s bringing an entirely new level of adventure gaming to Rift.”

The Climb’s main game mode will feature various settings and difficulty levels as well as a Training Mode, for those who may need some pointers on how to climb massive pieces of rock.

Crytek also revealed the recommended game requirements, which follows:

  • CPU: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 or newer
  • HDD: Unknown
  • Display: Oculus Rift, native resolution

        The bad thing is,they use to get it,but now,you're right,they just don't.
I thought that Crysis 2 and 3 were solid games, but I think Crytec ( or more importantly, EA) panicked because it didn't sell like they expected it to. Subsequently, now Crytec isn't making anything near the scale of either of those two games.

Maybe what they really need is a new IP that's like a third person adventure game.Imagine a game akin to Horizon Zero Dawn using the Crytec engine. That could be something.

Looks awesome, but I feel like you'd need a padded room to play it in. I'd be falling all over myself.

not sure about the floating hands, will this game use Oculus Touch? The 2 peripheral prototypes, you hold in your left and right hand.

Why are VR games so bad? As well as climbing rocks, how about giving the player 10 guns and populate the island with special forces in balaclavas or something.

        Something fun?? sigh

That would be the only reason to use disembodied hands. So you don't have to solve for elbows and shoulders.

Lol at crytek murdering another quote for one of their games. Last time it was Ceasar's "Veni, vidi, vici" for crysis (and none of those dumb fucks ever pronounced it correctly) now its motherfuckin Mallory who died on Mount Everest.

His famous reply to why he would want to climb the mountain was "Because its there" and now its use to promote Crytek's Caribbean molehill climbing simulator...

considering their last oculus demo was just a static camera with all the action coming towards you, I'll believe these visuals on the oculus when it comes out. You will need at least 980 sli in order to get that sort of visual quality with the oculus..
