Final Fantasy VI remake releasing on PC next week via Steam

Square Enix continues its support of Steam by announcing it will release Final Fantasy VI on PC next week.

While the world gushes over Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix has another remake it’s preparing to launch. Final Fantasy VI will be released on PC via Steam on December 16.

The PC version of Final Fantasy VI features recreated graphics that those who played the mobile version will be very familiar with, updated controls and active-time battle system, and supports Steam achievements and trading cards.

In addition to today’s announcement, Square Enix has released a new trailer promoting Final Fantasy VI’s upcoming PC release, which you can view below.

    There most certainly is not. It's just another direct port of the Android version like the last ones, complete with an unchanged touchscreen interface.

      I can't recall what site said this (maybe Kotaku), but they said the GBA version/port was the best. Do you happen to know why?

        I have that PSOne version. It did have longer load times but it did have neat CG cutscenes. These days not such a big deal but back then it was pretty cool to see those 2D sprites reminaged if for just a few seconds/minutes.

        Never played it but I have my doubts that the GBA CPU can accurately reproduce the SNES sound chip.

  I'm surprised that SE didn't "remake" this into an episodic game, considering that both ff6 and ff7 are roughly the same length.
