New MS Optical Mouse

Oddly enough, on Friday, my mouse totally fux0red and when I lifted it up, it took like two seconds to realize where I just placed it. Fuckin' pisses me off. Gonna call MS today and have 'em replace this one and the other one that broke. I didn't feel like waiting four weeks for a replacement.

Well my fabulous opinion is

a GOOD ball mouse thrashes the opticals.

the wingman gaming mouse has the shape of the century, but no mousewheel kinda smells! :(

want good mouse control with a ball?
whipe rollers THOROUGHLY with a hankercheif and spit till clean
NO SOAP ON ROLLERS

wash ball in hot water and soap

wash your 3m PMS mouse pad in water and soap
wash desk
place warm slightly wet (VERY slightly wet) 3m pad on desk, watch it almost "iron" itself on and basically never move.

wash bottom of mouse with spit and hanky, rub it like cleaning your glasses etc - no soap on this surface either.

wash monitor with windex - make it spotless.
perfect :) (for me anyhow)

BALL mice have the ability of when your in a jam, you can actually lift the mouse slightly off the mousepad and hold only a corner on it, but the ball still touches the pad - it's like "fine precision light mode"

sure not at that extreme angle at all - but i do still have some control - i dont do it on purpose but on a mouse flick or mouse re-position i still have minor control

i can not and will not and could not use a mouse which can NEVER come even 1mm off the mouse pad, would kill me.

i like the razer boomslang technology in the mouse, but dislike hte shape.

I think the Intellimouse Optical uses a 75 hz sample rate (it seems that MS Intellipoint sets this. Perhaps they bumped it to 100 hz?

Luv my MS Intellimouse optical. NO flick problems. Works great.

i dont like roller on side of mouse idea

thumb button and roller on top for gaming mouse would be VERY VERY nice

look after it - treat it well
if you are suffering from a wearing PMS mouse pad, you fucking use your mouse too much increase your sensitivity.

i dislike the height of the eversmooth or whatever it's called

however i do like the surface, I wont deny it
an everglide - /ratpad etc would be ok @ 2mm thick at most - the current height is just too much for me...

I use a...get this.....TOUCH PAD MOUSE.

wash pms with soap and toothbrush per 3 months.

maybe someone just needs to make a mouse pad with a pattern (or lack of pattern) on it so that these optical mouses can track better
ive had 2 optical mouses and only broke one, so far , that microsoft rat (the big gray one ) died like a bitch

ive now got the white one with buttons on both sides and it rules

I've had the same Intellimouse with Intelleye since they came out. Just clean the thing every so often and I'm a happy camper.

Don't know how you guys manage to snap the cords off and do other horrible things to yours, but mine is in great working shape. I've never had a mouse last this long before.

I play Quake3 every day that I use the computer, often for at least an hour. I also used a relatively high sensitivity for most of that time: 25-35, accel 2 for most of that time, but now I'm down to sens 10 w/ 2 accel.... I also have my cord layed out so it can't get caught on stuff and use a hard mousing surface.

Man seems a lot of guys here broke there MS Optical mice. I got my dad one for Christmas and it's held up pretty well. But then that might be attributed to the fact that he doesn't play Q3A and put it through the same kind of stress that you guys do...

I personally don't use a regular mice. I'm a trackball guy. I use the Logitech Trackman Marble FX. You know the really weird looking one with that strawberry ball the size of a billiard ball. Yup and I can play Q3A on it too.

for the record my intellimouse optical lasted 4 months....i hung it from a tree and shot it multiple times with a 45...ill post pics of the aftermath when i get them scanned

I agree with whoever said the Explorer feels like a cheap plastic toy. Even the Intellimouse with Intellieye feels cheap after having gotten accustomed to my Razer (admittedly I HATE having to clean the thing, wish someone would hurry up and make a low-profile, flick-oriented optical mouse).

All I want is the old logitech mouseman wheel. I can't seem to find it anywhere and my microsoft intellimouse is gimp. My mwheel doesn't work anymore. Everywhere I check theres like 20 optical mice and no normal 3-4 button (with mwheel) mice.

Well seems a lot of explorers died lately. Just to remind you all: A regular mouse need cheese but an MS mouse need money to chew on. Hmm oke back to my bong now.

get a logitech optical mouse. It's prettier, easier to use, and built better.

Look: steve, I play rocket arena like a bitch with my logitech optical, meaning i rocket jump a bunch, meaning i have to move my mouse real fast: MY LOGITECH OPTICAL MOUSE NEVER SKIPS!]b Ever. That means at no time, does it skip.

use it with a cloth non-reflective pad, and you will never go back.

I have the new one. I think its main thing is to fix a design flaw in the cord. I broke one mouse and the guy across from me did it to two. We both has the same problems.

I cant even imagine putting up with skittishness and sticking of a mechanical mouse anymore. Make mine potical forever...

my explorer died about a month ago :( I hear that's happening a lot now, heh

Put your wheel mouse in an IE window, push the button, move it up or down a little bit then let go. Hands free scrolling!

My MS Explorer optical broke about a week ago, spuratically working (sp). I just got a boomslang, and am hella happy with it. No more optical for me.. at least not until they perfect it, and I mean PERFECT

i have had 2 ms optical mice quit on me in a span of 8 months, so i'm back to the ball mouse for now
