EA Sports UFC 2 will launch in spring 2016 and will feature UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey as its global lead cover athlete.

“EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment,” said Rousey in a statement submitted to Shacknews. “As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it.”

EA Sports UFC 2 promises to take the franchise’s character likeness and animation to a new level as an all-new Knockout Physics System is being introduced. The game will introduce the biggest ever roster of real-world MMA fighters and will feature five new game modes, including KO Mode, UFC Ultimate Team, and Grapple Assist.

Rousey joins an elite club of dominant women athletes to grace the cover of EA Sports’ games, which recently featured Alex Morgan as FIFA 16’s cover athlete in the US. Rousey has become one of the most recognized figures in MMA history, and we can’t think of anyone better to be UFC 2’s cover athlete.
