Destiny servers down today for scheduled maintenance; will last at least two hours

Prepare for some downtime, Guardian.

Update: Bungie has concluded its server maintenance.

Original Story:

Bungie has announced Destiny’s servers will be taken down today for maintenance.

The starting time of today’s scheduled server maintenance will begin at 8am PT / 11am ET. Players will be unable to log into Destiny at that time in preparation for today’s maintenance, while those who are logged into the game will be removed at 9am PT, but will receive in-game messages informing them of the upcoming downtime.

During the maintenance period, Bungie.net sign-in and Companion app services may be restricted, so keep that in mind if you plan on accessing either of those during the downtime.

The last time Bungie had to take down Destiny’s servers for maintenance was nearly a month ago. There was a point where Guardians had to constantly deal with unexpected server downtime and server maintenance, but Bungie has apparently improved how often it needs to take Destiny down ever since The Taken King was released.

If you have two hours to kill today as a result of Destiny’s downtime, feel free to check out some of our recent guides. We’re sure they’ll make you an even larger threat to deal with once you’re able to log back in.
