Activision Announces Its Upcoming TV and Movie Plans

Get ready for a whole lot more of Call of Duty and Skylanders.

During Activision's investor meeting today, it announced the launch of a special studio tasked with bringing its most popular franchises to the silver screen as well as the small one.

Seminal shooter franchise Call of Duty will be receiving its own film franchise, while kid-friendly property Skylanders will be adapted for an animated television series called Skylanders Academy.

There are scant details about the Call of Duty films at present, but as far as Skylanders Academy, it's in production under Eric Rogers, previously a writer for Futurama. It'll feature an all-star cast with Justin Long as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale as Stealth Elf, Norm Macdonald as Glumshanks, and Jonathan Banks as Eruptor.

Hopefully with all the cash involved in this endeavor, the properties will end up being viable pieces of entertainment and at least a fraction as exciting as the actual games.
