Guitar Hero Live will add Weezer concert set from later this week

Guitar Hero Live will continue to add musical content in new and unconventional ways by taking a Weezer concert set to take place tomorrow night and filming it to add to the game in the near future.

Tomorrow, it's Activision and FreeStyleGames' turn to rock out with the release of Guitar Hero Live. Activision is looking to launch the game in grand fashion with a special concert set to take place tonight, headlined by Weezer, Rival Sons, and Grizfolk. But as long as Weezer's hanging around in the neighborhood, it looks like FreeStyle will be borrowing them for some future in-game content.

A second concert will take place tomorrow at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles, in which Weezer will perform tracks off their new album. These performances will be filmed and added to the GHTV section of Guitar Hero Live as a playable music set. It should operate similar to the Avenged Sevenfold content, in that the performance should be unlockable via in-game currency.

Those interested in catching the actual show can listen through the iHeartMedia Alternative, Mainstream, and Active Rock radio stations. The concert can also be seen through the radio station websites of those same stations.

Guitar Hero Live arrives tomorrow on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and iOS devices.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
