While a handful of news is making its way out of TwitchCon this year, that's not the only event taking place this weekend. Across the pond, there's EGX, where game developers are offering up their own announcements. Developer Introversion just released some news about the upcoming Prison Architect, which is already in line to escape from Steam Early Access in a couple of weeks. So why not explore that "escape" idea a little further with a new game mode?

Escape Mode gives Prison Architect a whole new game mode, as well as a new story. This mode follows Edward, who's facing the death penalty for a crime of passion. While the story will mainly follow him, players will also get to meet some of the other inmates across four chapters. As players struggle to escape the prison facility by creating alliances and slowly digging a tunnel, they'll be given a gritty look into the modern prison industrial complex.

Prison Architect is set to officially release on October 6 on PC, which is when Escape Mode will see the light of day. The game is currently available right now through Steam Early Access. For more, check out the full EGX presentation below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
