Rock Band 4 isn't set to take the stage until October 6, but Harmonix is already looking ahead to the game's first major feature update. During a presentation at this year's TwitchCon, the developer outlined what's to come, including a long-awaited, fan-requested feature.

The first Rock Band 4 feature update will debut the "Variable Breakneck Speed" option. For rhythm game veterans, this is better known as Guitar Hero's old Hyperspeed cheat, which will allow users to adjust the note scrolling speed for their respective track highway. Other changes outlined on the Harmonix website include unspecified social and competitive features.

Rock Band 4 is set to hit on October 6 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but don't look for the first feature update to arrive until December 8. The update and its features will be free of charge.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
